Q: Which Medtronic devices does the MiniLinkTM Transmitter work with?
A: The MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter is now available with the Paradigm® REAL-Time Insulin Pump and the GuardianTM REAL-Time System. The transmitter's small, comfortable, and discreet construction wirelessly delivers 288 REAL-Time glucose readings per day; or every 5 minutes 24 hours a day.
Q: Can I swim or bathe while wearing a MiniLinkTM transmitter?
A: Yes. When connected to the sensor, the MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter is waterproof up to 8 feet or 2.4 metres for 30 minutes. Enjoy swimming, bathing, and showering in confidence.1
Q: How small is the MiniLinkTM?
A: MiniLinkTMS Transmitter is the smallest, most discreet transmitter available. You'll enjoy the freedom of its small size
- only 1.4"/3.6 cm x 1.1"/2.8 cm x 0.35"/0.9 cm. About the diameter of a quarter and as thin as a stack of four quarters high, its lightweight, comfortable, ergonomic design delivers more freedom of movement with a much lower chance of skin irritation.
Q: I was trained on the previous transmitter; do I need new training for the
MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter?
A: If you've already been trained on the previous transmitter you don't need any further training to use the MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter. The only difference you'll notice is in the recharging aspects of the
MiniLinkTMTransmitter.
Q: Where can I comfortably wear the MiniLinkTM?
A: The ultra-small profile and wireless technology of the MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter allows you to wear it comfortably on several locations on the body. Only 0.35"/0.9 cm thick, the
MiniLinkTM Transmitter can be discreetly worn under even the most revealing clothing. Trial and error is the best way to find the location that suits you best.
Q: How do I wear the MiniLinkTM Transmitter?
A: The MiniLinkTM Transmitter easily snaps directly to the glucose sensor, after the sensor has been inserted under the skin. The transmitter's light weight and small size mean you don't have to use additional tape to hold it in place.
Q: How do I re-charge the MiniLinkTM Transmitter?
A: When you connect the MiniLinkTM Transmitter to the charger, the charger's green light will flash a few times. During charging, the green light will flash periodically. If the charger's red light turns on, the charger battery or the transmitter battery may be too low. Once the transmitter is fully charged, the green light will turn on for 20 seconds then turn off. When you remove the transmitter from the charger the green light in the transmitter will briefly flash, indicating that the
MiniLinkTM Transmitter is ready for use.
The charger itself uses one AAA battery to charge the MiniLinkTMTransmitter. Eveready batteries are recommended and can recharge the transmitter for more than 40, three-day, glucose sensors.
Charging Times
20 Minutes:
If you have only used the transmitter with a three-day glucose sensor
2 Hours:
If the transmitter battery is low from normal use
8 Hours:
If the transmitter battery is very low from lack of use
Q: How do I change the battery in the MiniLinkTM Transmitter?
A: The MiniLinkTM Transmitter uses a non-replaceable battery. The transmitter charger uses one AAA battery, which should be replaced after 40, three-day, sensors.
Q: Can I trade my previous transmitter for a MiniLinkTM Transmitter?
A: The new MiniLinkTM REAL-Time Transmitter is available at an existing customer discount for those who purchased the previous transmitter.

Q: What is the operating range between the MiniLinkTM Transmitter and the monitor?
A: The MiniLinkTM and the monitor can be up to 6 feet (1.8 metres) apart and still maintain a wireless connection. If the transmitter is out of range for more than 40 minutes, you will receive a lost sensor alert from the monitor. Data can be stored on the transmitter for a maximum of 40 minutes, even when out of the range of the monitor.
Q: Can anything interfere with the MiniLinkTM Transmitter's wireless communication?
A: The MiniLinkTM transmitter doesn't generate enough radio frequency power to interfere with other devices; however, a cell phone, 900 MHz wireless phones, and wireless networks, when in use, can emit enough radio frequency power to interfere with the MiniLink Transmitter's wireless communications. This will not cause incorrect glucose readings, but could prevent the monitor from receiving the data from the
MiniLinkTM Transmitter until the interference is turned off or out of range.
Q: Can I take the MiniLinkTM Transmitter on an airplane?
A: Airport security typically allows patients to take medical devices through metal detectors. You should check the Transportation Security Administration website for exact regulations. When in flight, CTA and FCC regulations stipulate that RF is not permitted during flight, so you will be required to turn the sensor feature off.
